Quolio is built so your notes stay yours. The AI runs on your device. No account.
The short version
- No account and no sign-in.
- No tracking, no ads and no analytics.
- AI summaries run on your device with Apple Intelligence. Quolio does not use Google Gemini or any other third-party AI.
- We can't see your notes or recordings.
- We don't sell your data or share it with anyone. We don't receive it in the first place.
Your notes and recordings
Your notes and recordings live on your device. If you are signed in to iCloud on your device and iCloud is allowed for Quolio, your notes, recordings, photos and drawings sync between your devices through your own private iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit. They are stored in your iCloud, not on any server we run, and we can't see them. Apple's iCloud terms and privacy policy apply to that storage.
Speech recognition
Quolio transcribes speech on your device first. If on-device recognition fails, the audio may be sent to Apple's speech recognition servers to be transcribed. In that case, Apple's privacy policy applies.
AI features
Summaries, action items, quizzes, flashcards and Ask your notes run on your device using Apple Intelligence. AI features need iOS 26 on an iPhone 15 Pro or newer, or a Mac with Apple silicon (M-series).
Importing from YouTube
If you paste a YouTube link to import its captions, Quolio sends that video's ID from your device to YouTube to fetch the captions. Nothing else about you or your notes is sent. YouTube's own privacy policy applies to that request.
Permissions
Quolio asks for access only when you use a feature that needs it:
- Microphone to record meetings, lectures and talks.
- Speech recognition to turn recordings into text.
- Camera and photos only when you add a photo to a note or save a photo from a note to your library. Photos you add stay in your note, on your device and in your private iCloud if sync is on.
You can change these any time in your device's Settings.
What we don't do
- We don't track you.
- We don't show ads.
- We don't collect analytics.
Deleting your data
We keep no copy of your data, so there is nothing for us to delete on our side. You can delete notes and recordings inside the app. With iCloud sync on, deleting a note also removes it from your other devices and your iCloud. Deleting the app removes the data stored on your device. To remove data held in iCloud, go to Settings > your name > iCloud > Manage Account Storage on your device and delete Quolio's data.
Children
Quolio is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update the effective date above.
